The Sylvestery is a secure, licensed assisted living community that specializes in providing care and support to those dealing with a diagnosis of dementia. Residents living in a memory care community must have a diagnosis of a serious cognitive impairment. All staff members have additional training to care for and communicate with residents who have dementia. Assisted living residences, like Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living, primarily support individuals who need help with their daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting) and their instrumental activities of daily living (housekeeping, meal preparation, medication management).
Residents in nursing care typically need support with all daily living activities (bathing, dressing, transferring, toileting, eating). Residents in memory care can perform a few daily living activities on their own.
