Granting Organizations
We greatly appreciate the following organizations for their support of Vinson Hall Retirement Community through their generous grants to the Navy Marine Cost Guard Residence Foundation.
William H. Donner Foundation
In February 2023, NMCGRF received a $55,000 grant from the William H. Donner Foundation to benefit the Employee Caring Fund. The William H. Donner Foundation has awarded NMCGRF a total of $155,000 in five grants in the last three years. Since its launch in 2020, the Employee Caring Fund has granted more than $268,000 through 627 financial awards to staff.
McLean Community Foundation
In April 2023, NMCGRF received a $5,200 grant from the McLean Community Foundation to purchase outdoor seating beneath our 400-year-old historic willow oak tree on campus. This is the third year the Foundation has received funding from McLean Community Foundation. In 2022, NMCGRF was awarded $6,230 for an interactive digital kiosk for residents, and in 2021 a grant for $4,834 enabled us to purchase five iPads for The Sylvestery and to support the installation costs of a new resident engagement portal for independent living residents in Vinson Hall and Willow Oak.
Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Washington, D.C.
From NMCGRF’s long-time supporter, the Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Washington, D.C., the Foundation received a grant for $500 in 2021 that enabled us to provide all residents and staff with custom-made VHRC facemasks. In 2022, the Naval Officers’ Spouses Club awarded the Foundation a grant of $1,000 for a fire pit and outdoor seating at Vinson Hall Retirement Community’s new Sport Park.
Rotary Club of McLean
In 2022, NMCGRF received a grant for $2,000 from the Rotary Club of McLean. These funds allowed the Foundation to purchase four benches for the Sports Park, enabling residents to socialize outdoors while sitting comfortably and watching their friends play pickle ball.
